The beginnings
His encounter with that infinite space of sounds and sensations—more generally known as music—happened from his very earliest years. His maternal grandfather, a skilled luthier and musician, as well as a versatile and well-educated man, immediately nurtured young Luca’s interest in the world of notes, also guiding him in discovering all those small daily novelties that mark a child’s first steps into everyday life.
The music at home
Throughout his childhood, Luca continued to “breathe” music thanks to the many records bought by his father, which were regularly played in the living room. He especially remembers albums such as The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, Greatest Hits by America, and Hotel California by the Eagles, as well as famous hits like Enola Gay by OMD, Moonlight Shadow by Mike Oldfield, and other historic tracks that shaped the early 1980s.
The first guitar
The very first guitar Luca ever held was the classical guitar built for him by his grandfather: a jewel made entirely by hand, which sparked his interest in the instrument and his desire to learn everything he could—so he could turn the vibration of those six magical strings into melodies.
Study and technical evolution
From that moment on, many years were devoted to studying the instrument, and just as many were the evolutions it inspired in him: first the basic notions, then the study of lead technique developed on classical and acoustic guitar, then transferring that technique onto the electric guitar fretboard, and finally developing picking both with a plectrum and with the four fingers of the left hand (Luca is left-handed).
Influences and style
In parallel, during those years, getting to know and listening to many artists on the music scene—especially Phil Collins, Genesis, Europe, The Police, Daryl Stuermer, R.E.M., Van Halen, and Mike Oldfield—influenced his musical growth and were true Teachers to him, not only for their creative gifts but also for the great charisma they were able to convey.
Although vocals are a very important component of a song, Luca Ambrosi mainly prefers instrumental pieces, in most of which the guitar takes the leading role. There are also compositions where the piano is the lead instrument, or tracks in which several instruments take turns in the central role.
Discography
Luca Ambrosi made his debut on the record market in December 2005 with the album The First, definitively consolidating his presence on the international guitar scene with Ode Forever (released in 2008), I Know (released in 2013), and the new River of Life, launched in February 2026.
